NetServe FibreSpeed :: Enterprise Connectivity For North Wales

FibreSpeed with Netserve

Netserve Consultants will deliver high speed symmetrical connectivity to North Wales Business Parks over the Fibrespeed Network.

The Welsh Assembly Government, along with European Structural funding have invested £30 million over 15 years to create an Open Access Network named FibreSpeed that will deliver between 10Mbit/s to multi-Gigabit symmetrical connectivity either along the length of the carrier grade network for less than a similar bespoke product from BT.

This is delivered through a network of Points of Presence (PoP's) that run through the primary business parks of North Wales. These PoP's are graded as primary Secondary and Tertiary; with facilities running from redundant loop to hosting and generators, to break out boxes, to facilities to install.

The network is designed and implemented to fulfil the following operations:

Local Connect
Linking one PoP to another;
Open Connect
Connectivity back to Manchester Data Centres & Internet
Tail
Connecting the premesis to the PoP.

Netserve Consultants is taking a primary feed to it's secured hosting environment, and is superbly positioned to provide transit, and peering over the Open Connect circuit through its hardware located in the Manchester data centres.

“This is a landmark day for businesses in Wales. We all want a vibrant and booming economy in North Wales, and a high speed communications infrastructure is one of the most important components of that. This implementation will enable organisations in Wales to affordably utilise the communications services that other parts of the UK already enjoy, and will encourage external investment and relocation to the country. We have a vision for the Welsh economy, one that involves providing sustainable growth and a move to a knowledge-based economy. This will help allow Welsh employment levels to match the rest of the UK, and will also create a platform to attract and retain high value, high skill jobs. This announcement is a significant step on the way to achieving those goals.”
-- Ieuan Wyn Jones, Deputy First Minister and Minister for the Economy and Transport.

Please Note:
The primary goal of the project was to make available leased line products to North Wales at a price comparable with that of London. This is a leased line product in step with the concepts of Kilostream, Megatream, E-Carrier et al - where a physical non contended cable is dug to the premises, and an ethernet/layer 2 product is delivered over it. This is not comparable with home/office conventional 'broadband' offerings, either in install, price, or performance.
